Gorgeous shots, as always! It's still too cold for insects where I am.

ooo, I just saw my first bee fly of the year, enjoying forgetmenots in the sun. It's proboscis was so long it could barely sit on the flower and eat. Like eating with a long spoon, the length of its body.

I saw one too yesterday, got a shot of his fluffy behind before he ran away. They're brilliant.

Beautiful shots!! Some of you may know that I wake up VERY early. So I went out in the garden at around 5 am grumpy as hell. But then a miracle happened a little later: two willow warblers where hopping about the mirabelle tree searching for insects. I hadn't seen them in a long while. No pic, sorry.

My neighbours have just discovered bed bugs. Joy! We all do a lot of swapping of clothes and furniture etc, but that might all get much quiter if there are bedbug infestations locally. Not the kind of spring insects I was hoping to encounter.

Luckily they are not my bedbuds but my neighbours. God forbid that end up at my place. It does make me consider more carefully baout taking second hand furniture etc

gish. What a clear picture! It could be on a billboard. Is it layered?

Nope, just the usual contrast, vibrance & sharpen adjustments. I did crop it first though to give a better frame and lose some clutter from the right side. But yeah I'm pleased with how it turned out.
I've heard people talk of this layering (and stacking) thing but I've never done it.

No, no tripod today as the light was great and my macro lens is image-stabilised. But I do sometimes use a tripod & cable-release.

Superb. Don't sound apologetic about cropping. It can be hard to get the composition spot on with insects (I find) as you often have to grab the moment. It's a great image, no matter how you did it.

You will.
f/5.6? I never go that far for macros! f/4.5 at most. I should try,
