Les Marais d'Harchies
Sun Apr 14, 2024 4:40 pm
A bit of landscape, a bit of wildlife...
En route to Luxembourg, I stopped for an hour at the Marais d'Harchies, on the French/Belgian border near Mons. It was a dreadful day to go to a bird reserve, 70km winds and most were sensibly tucked up somewhere sheltered. If anyone is in that neck of the woods, though, it is worth a visit.
The overall impression is managed in a sort of not managed way. There are some grazed wetland fields, and the paths are well maintained, but there are wonderfully left-to-it ditches. A brief flavour
And just to prove I did see any birds
