I found these 2 female young spruce cones out walking this morning. I can't believe I've never noticed one before!
Taken in full sun and then lightened to bring out the detail. I couldn't access a growing one, they are way, way, way too high, so bringing them home was the best I could do.

I love this young growth. Some foraging sites say you can eat it. I'll think about that one...
